I arrived in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia on July 7, 2000 as a Secretary in the Reservoir Description & Simulation Dpt. One weekend, almost immediately upon arriving, I met Raymond Dunne, a Recreation Advisor in Ras Tanura. We've been together ever since. Ray came to Saudi Arabia in 1996 and worked for 2 years in Dhahran before transferring to Ras Tanura.
I transferred to Northern Area Producing Engineering Dpt in Ras Tanura in October, 2003. Ray and I have been together for 6 years and we recently got engaged on July 12, 2006 in Corfu, Greece. I went for a week's holiday to "surprise" my parents and auntie and uncle who were there on holiday. Then Ray (completely out of the blue) some 3 days later turned up at the hotel in Corfu with "ring in hand" and proposed!!! So I guess the surprise was really on me. It was extremely romantic and very special. We're both delighted and it's a holiday we will never forget especially as we were able to celebrate our engagement with my family.
We're hoping to get married in the Lake District in the UK in early 2008 as this is halfway between our two families. Ray's family is down south in Wiltshire and my family is up north in Lancashire. We hope to find our ideal wedding venue when we go home on repat in October of this year. We plan to celebrate our engagement further still with family & friends back home and with a trip to Dublin to meet Ray's Irish relatives whom I've not met before. It's a very exciting time for both of us and we look forward to a long and happy future together.
