Bob Loeb Bob Loeb

Robert C. Loeb of Lakeway, Texas passed away January 31, 2010, after a struggle with multiple systems atrophy. Born in Fresno, California on January 27, 1940, he was the son of the late Dolores and Charles Loeb.

Bob is survived by his wife, Barbara and two sons: Jeffrey of Dallas, TX and Warrant Officer Michael Loeb of Ft. Rucker, Alabama; two sisters, Beverly Nelson and Shirley Buddell, and one brother, Maurice, as well as many other relatives and friends.

He was a computer programmer working for Chevron for 37 years and on loan to Saudi Aramco in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia for 18 years. He met his wife, Barbara, in Dhahran. Prior to working for Chevron, he served in the US Army.

Bob was a proud member of the Dhahran Theater Group. He directed, acted, and stage managed many different productions and built sets as well. In Lakeway, he was a member of the auxiliary police force. He loved to cook and bake. Reading, especially science fiction, was a pleasure for him and so were computer games.

He learned to ride a motorcycle late in life. His hobbies often changed as the need arose: he made his own bullets for practice at the shooting range. He and Barbara enjoyed traveling to various parts of the world. Each year, on their return from Saudi Arabia, they took Jeff and Mike on different trips whether it was a dude ranch, rafting down the Rogue River or diving together.

A memorial service for Bob will be held Sunday, February 14, at 3:00 p.m. at the Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home in Lakeway, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to Cure/PSP, Executive Plaza 111, 11350 McCormack Blvd., Suite 906, Hunt Valley, MD 21031. This is a research organization for brain diseases.

Thank you to the nurses and staff of St. David's South and the Summit of Lakeway for their outstanding care during Bob's illness.

Barbara - I just wanted to tell you how sorry I was to hear about Bob.  He was a dear friend while we were in Saudi and I know he will be missed by his family and friends.  May God comfort you during this time and give you the strength to carry on. Bob was a great guy and always had a smile.
    Take care and God Bless,
      Ken & Mary Humphrey

Barabra - We've only met a couple times, I'm not sure if you remember me. I'm married to Bob's niece Dolores, and I currently work for Saudi Aramco and live in Dhahran Hills.
We were so sorry to hear about Bob's illness and sudden death.  He was such an active participant in the community and contributed so much during his time here.  I know how passionate he was about the theatre group and teaching cooking classes, and I remember enjoying the great stories he brought back to the US with him. It's unfortunate that he went so quickly, but hopefully he didn't suffer too much.
    May God bless you,
    Rick
