Saudi Aramcon Rodney Burge is formally welcomed as a Life Member of The Sons of the Republic of Texas by fellow Texan and Saudi Aramcon Stan Stokes. Stan also is a Life Member and has been a District Representative for SRT.
The Sons of the Republic of Texas is a heritage organization open to men whose ancestors were citizens of the Republic of Texas while Texas was an independent nation from 1836 until it became part of the United States by treaty in 1846.
The SRT seeks to perpetuate the history, memory and spirit of the dedicated pioneer men and women who helped achieve the independence of Texas. SRT Chapters regularly participate in school and civic programs to preserve Texas heritage and to promote historical appreciation, as well as supporting scholarships and other programs which further the cause of history and heritage.
To be eligible for membership, it is necessary to prove family lineage back to a Republic of Texas citizen ancestor. Rodney was able to obtain all necessary information regarding his Texas ancestors on-line from the internet and is the first member of The Sons of the Republic of Texas to apply and be inducted while in Saudi Arabia.
