Author: Daren Lamb
Released 11 November 2006

Daren Lamb was born and raised in a very small town in West Virginia, and educated at West Virginia University. Until 1970, she had hardly been outside the state. And then, she, her husband, Harry, their three sons and their Siamese cat, found themselves in Ras Tanura. They left Aramco for good 12 years later, in 1982. They also lived in Indonesia for a period of time. They have since retired to the beach in South Florida.

Daren and her husband, Harry, former maintenance superintendent for Aramco, have been married for fifty years. Daren will be remembered for her work in the Ras Tanura ITC, and with the Community Services Department in Ras Tanura, particularly with the Recreation Office and her work on the Weekly Bulletin. They still have many friends world-wide that they made when they were in Ras Tanura, and welcome hearing from them.

Their sons will be remembered by other Brats. Gar lives in Fort Pierce, Florida, with his wife, Sylvie, close to his mother and father; Jon is now an M.D., and he and Sue are currently in Utica, New York, but will return to Florida in another six months; and Harry, Jr. (better known as Petey), lives with his wife, Cammy, and children, Jacob and Rachel in Lexington, Missouri.

Although she has written fiction since she learned to write, Daren was always too busy being an Aramco wife, raising a family, and earning a living, to take the profession seriously.  In 2002, she published her first novel, Djakarta!, about an American woman who finds herself widowed and relocated to Java, with her trials and tribulations adjusting to the hot Equatorial climate. In 2003, another novel came about, Fool’s Challenge, in which a woman is being sought after because she has a heart a wealthy king wants for his dying son; and now, For Poorer or Richer, ‘til Death.

Aramco Annuitant Daren Lamb

FOR POORER OR RICHER, ‘TIL DEATH.  When Sydney Cunningham’s husband dies and leaves her penniless, she soon discovers she is too young to apply for social security benefits and too old to find a job. With a forty-year old college degree and archaic skills, it soon becomes obvious she’s unemployable in today’s world. Upon looking in the mirror, she realizes she looks like someone’s grandmother. She IS someone’s grandmother, but that isn’t a good thing when she absolutely must get a job to support herself. She uses the last of her money to make herself more employable: She has cosmetic surgery. It works. A dream job and a new love take her to Greece, but it all soon turns into a nightmare when she becomes involved with an international terrorist group. Sydney goes from being penniless to one of the world’s wealthiest women in just a short time, and finds wealth is a tremendous burden she isn’t ready to accept.
