The Las Vegas Mini Reunion was held on May 11, 2007 at the home of Byron and Donna Peterson. It began as an open house to see Sydney and Marion Williamson and Bob and Ann Bianchi who had traveled from the UK to see friends in Las Vegas. It ended up as a great time for Expats in the Las Vegas area to get together and reminisce.
Attending were: Bob & Ann Bianchi, Nina Bradbury, Frank & Lorraine Callom, Tom & Anita Flickner, Bob & Eve Gehle, John Istle, Jim and Rita Maher, Corky & Sandy Owens, Byron and Donna Peterson, Frank Skorpinski, David and Linda Walker, Syd and Marion Williamson.
This was a wonderful time to catch up with everyone as well as remember the great times we had in Saudi Arabia. George and Eve Gehle came ready for the party with 2 authentic bottles of Rausch “Grape” juice bottles and several past issues of the “Arabian Sun”. The “Arabian Suns” were passed around and we all recalled people and events from Arabia.
As many of the group were avid golfers and participants in the RHCC (Syd Williamson is a former president of the RHCC), there was great interest in the new grass golf course. Frank Skorpinski brought a brochure that showed pictures of the beautiful new course.
The evening ended with exchanging addresses and telephone numbers. We all promised to get together again.
Note: I would like to add that I was very reluctant to place a notice for the Mini-Reunion on the expats website. I knew it would be a small event and I did not want this small event to seem pretentious or get more people than my house could hold. I was really wrong. This was an extremely positive experience. We received over 100 emails from across the USA. Many were from some of our lost friends, but others were for the Williamson and Bianchis congratulating them on their trip and wanting to catch up.
I hope that we are able to do another mini reunion and I would encourage Expats to use this site to catch up with old friends. Our friends from Arabia were a big part of our life and we treasure each and every one of them. What a shame to lose them for lack of contact information, when you have such a convenient and useful website.
We hope to see lots of old friends in Las Vegas September 29 – Oct. 1, 2008 at the Jabal Las Vegas 2008, the Saudi Aramco Annuitants Reunion. Las Vegas is a wonderful, dynamic city with great accommodations and entertainment. However wonderful the city is, it will never outshine the Expats who attend. I really encourage everyone who is able to attend. Remember – the more, the merrier.
