Aramco Services Company’s Washington office hosted a reception and dinner for roughly 400 area annuitants, retirees, brats and business contacts at the National Aquarium in Baltimore on Saturday October 7th. ASC President Dawood Al-Dawood was there to welcome them, along with ASC Washington Director David D. Bosch and Deya Elyas, Director of ASC Public Affairs.
Aramco Annuitants and Their Families
Guests and their families dined among 10,500 animal species, including zebra sharks, electric eels, Atlantic bottlenose dolphins and giant Amazon river turtles. For the 75 children who attended, a special dining area for them included a large screen showing of Finding Nemo, aquarium coloring books and goldfish snacks.
To start the night off, an aquarium diver hopped into a pool of sting rays for a feeding demonstration, which proved popular with adults and children alike. Some families gathered for photo-ops as mermaids and mermen, while others swapped old stories over dinner.

Among the annuitants with the earliest service dates was Harlan Cleaver, who started in July 1945 at Ras Tanura to help set up an automated system of material control for the refinery. In 1952, he went to work for the Systems and Electronic Data Processing Department. Mr. Cleaver retired from Materials Supply in 1970, and just celebrated his 92nd birthday this summer.
The evening concluded with guests receiving gift bags of genuine Arabian seashells, a beachcomber’s booklet on collectible eastern Arabian seashells and the newly published photo history of the people of Saudi Aramco.
