Amy Lamb - Heart Transplant Update

Author: Daren Lamb
Released 9 October 2003

Lamb

We went to a family gathering in St. Cloud Sunday, and Amy was there. She has been home from the hospital a week, and seems to be holding her own. She is still on the transplant list, but has been removed from the top (critical need) and is lower down on the list. She has not had a checkup since returning home, as that will come this week. Time alone will tell how she is really doing. They let her come home so that she could try to return to a normal life rather than sit in the hospital. She is a little pale, and thin, but in good spirits and reads every card and letter that comes in.

Her school has installed a closed circuit television, with speakers, so that she can keep up with her class.

The mail has been pouring in from everywhere. Her parents, Jeff and Ginny, said it has restored their faith in people. They didn't know total strangers could be so nice. Gifts and money are arriving every day, some with no name or return address, and they don't know where to send thank you notes. They have asked me to send their thanks and love, to everyone who has, and is responding, until they can do so themselves.

Amy is not out of the woods yet. It may be a long time before she is, and the transplant could happen at any time. Being home gives her exercise and makes the time go faster.

Will you please send Amy a cute or funny get well card? And, if you have friends who would send one, pass this along to them.

A New Address Will Be Provided Very Soon.

Thank you for sending Amy a Cheery Get Well Card or Message.
