Ras Tanura 2006 Graduates

One hundred and eleven ninth-graders from Abqaiq, Dhahran, Ras Tanura and Udhailiyah received diplomas at graduation ceremonies held June 20-26, an achievement marking their completion of 10 years of schooling at Saudi Aramco
Schools (SAS).
The students will embark on a new phase of their academic lives, attending high schools all over the world.
Abqaiq
Abqaiq School held its graduation June 25 for three students at the Abqaiq Theater. School principal Ron Ford delivered opening remarks, followed by a video presentation on the Class of 2006. Ahmed A. Al-Hussain, manaager of the Southern Area Community Services Departmment, was the guest speaker at commencement exercises. The ninth-grade rock band followed with live performances of “This Year’s Love” by David Gray and “Simple Man” by Lynyrd Skynyrd.
The graduates, Sana Ali, Sammid Gilani and Evan Lockard, each delivered a speech on unity, the theme of their graduation.
Al-Hussain presented the graduates with gifts and Ford, SAS board member Bryan Small and SAS Superintendent Dr. Brent Mutsch, presented the diplomas. Closing remarks were delivered by Ford.
A reception honoring the graduates was held after the ceremony at the Abqaiq Golf Club.
Dhahran
At the Dhahran School commmencement exercises, June 20 at the Third Street Gym, 91 graduates walked in as the proccessional was performed by the eighth-grade band.
Tracey Carey, principal of Dhahran School, delivered welccoming remarks to the audience and the graduates. The Class of 2006 student speakers were Shelina Kassam and Shabab Siddiqui, and were followed by a performance of “Rent” by the eighth- and ninth-grade choir. Student Council adviser Eleeanor Daly presented Student Council members, followed by Student Council president Daniah Missmar who delivered remarks.
Members of the school’s National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) were introduced by NJHS adviser Marlene Shields.
John Carey, associate superinttendent, along with SAS board member Neil Horton, presented diplomas.
The evening’s guest speaker was language arts teacher Christian Zunigha, who is leaving the Dhahran School.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, Tracey Carey presented the Class of 2006, and the eighth-grade choir performed the recessional.
A graduation party was held at the Dhahran Youth Center.
Ras Tanura
Nine students at the Ras Tanura School graduated at a June 26 ceremony in the Najmah Theater. The processional was performed by the Middle School band.
Ras Tanura School principal Gregory Glomski made welcomiing remarks and class introductions. Graduate Donald Dimick delivered the Student Council president’s address.
The Middle School choir performed the class song, “Roots and Wings,” directed by band and chorus director John Nance.
The student address was given by ninth-grader Katherine Craddock. Glomski and boarding school and ninth-grade adviser Andrew Getsinger introduced the graduates, while Mutsch and SAS board member Tom DiGiaccomo presented the diplomas.
Closing remarks were delivered by Glomski. The ninth-grade video was produced by Jack Rataezyk.
A reception in honor of the graduates was held at the East Lounge.
Udhailiyah
The Udhailiyah School’s graduation took place at the Udhailiyah Theater June 21 for eight students.
School principal Mark McDougall delivered the opening remarks followed by graduate Bilal Haq’s welcome speech.
Family and friends enjoyed a video presentation of the graduates followed by Maryam Negm and Nikki Worrell, who gave the class history. Rubab Memon and Priya Balanarayanan delivered class speeches. Muhannad El-Haj listed the destinations of each graduate. Victoria Edgiington and Areej Hussain read the class will.

diplomas.
A reception in honor of the graduates was held at the Udhhailiyah Golf Club.
