Over a decade ago, Monte Carlo Night was enjoyed by many Aramcons. On Thursday, October 27 it was revived once again. China Post 1-Dhahran Memorial Division with the Beta Sigma Phi Xi Epsilon Chapter refurbished their gaming equipment, tackled necessary preparatory matters, trained some volunteer dealers, and then co-hosted this unique and enjoyable “blast from the past “social in Dhahran.

The event was organized to raise funds for the victims of the recent Katrina and Rita Hurricanes that devastated many southern states. The night was enjoyed by approximately 200 attendees. Some of the prizes awarded to high winners consisted of a 29” TV, a carpet, a large rosewood chest, catered hors d’oeuvres for twenty, flight tickets, and several decorative house items- all of which were donated by local merchants. The unique social cleared $5,326. The Legion and the Xi Epsilon Chapter split this money equally. It will be donated to the hurricanes’ victims through the American Red Cross and the American Legion National Emergency Fund.

We were told Monte Carlo night allowed many new Aramcons to experience what Aramcons had experienced before on a pretty regular basis. It also gave everyone a glimpse of the past. The sponsoring groups enjoyed combining this “blast from the past” with an opportunity to help others in need.
