Unfortunately next year there is a limit to the number of people who can attend the Reunion Dinner. The Hotel Function Room can only cater for 120 to a sit down dinner. Therefore it is more important this time to make your booking early to guarantee a room and a place at the 3rd Ukaramcon Reunion Dinner.
Eileen and I visited the Hotel last week and found the rooms to be very well furnished with a fantastic view of Edinburgh. (When booking your room, remember to ask for a room with a City view.) From that aspect you can see over the top of Edinburgh City across to the Castle and Arthur's Seat. All the rooms were renovated last year with the reception area, bar and restaurant, due for renovation this summer. Visit Holiday Inn Edinburgh Hotels to see more photos.
The Hotel is approximately 20 minutes walk from Princes Street, a great shopping center, for those who are still energetic, if not buses (No. 41) pass by frequently from the front of the Hotel. Some nearby attractions also include:
Edinburgh Castle - Most famous of Scottish Castles. See the Scottish Crown Jewels, Stone of Destiny.
Dynamic Earth - Travel back in time to witness the Big Bang through the eyes of the Hubble Telescope. You'll feel the earth move!
Scotch Whisky Experience - 5 Star Attraction with Whisky Tour, "Amber" Scottish Restaurant, Whisky Bar and Shop. Over 300 whiskies to taste.
The Royal Yacht Britannia - Explore five decks of the Royal Yacht with your own audio tour, uncovering Britannia's fascinating story.
Edinburgh Zoo - Enjoy a wonderful day out at Edinburgh Zoo, Scotland's largest wildlife attraction. Home to 1,000 amazing animals.
Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh - World famous garden set in 72 acres of beautiful landscaped grounds.
The National Museum of Flight - See hangars packed with aircraft that reveal how flight developed from the Wright brothers to Concorde.
The Falkirk Wheel - Designed and constructed to provide a 21st. century solution to join the Forth and Clyde Canals.
There is also a shopping center across the road from the Hotel e.g. Marks & Spencers, T. K. Maxx, Boots, Mamas & Papas, Homebase, and Sainsburys. Marks & Spencers, and Sainsbury have a cafes and there is Kentucky Fried Chicken for those who want more than a sandwich.
It is hoped to run the event the same as last year - Thursday evening out locally for dinner and drinks and on the Friday a meal at a Toby-Carvery Restaurant which is nearby (approx. 2 miles). Transportation from the Hotel to the venues will be arranged and costs will be advised once numbers have been confirmed.
Jimmy Churchill, Jean Sullivan, Maureen Rowley & John Brady golfed at the 2008 Ukaramcons Reunion.

Golf will also be arranged at one of the many courses around Edinburgh and depending again on numbers a fun Tournament will be held.
For all of these events I would like the help of 2 coordinators for each. I shall set up the golf, dinners and transport and the coordinators would be required to supervise them as they take place. Please email me if you are interested in helping. A few people are also required to set-up, decorate and prepare flowers for the tables on the Saturday.
Regards,
Tom & Eileen Henderson
