Saudi Aramco 75th Anniversary Committee
Saudi Aramco is embarking on a project to build a major Cultural Center in the Dhahran area, as a contribution to the people of Saudi Arabia and the world in the context of the company's 75th Anniversary in 2008. The facility will be open to the public, and will include a Public Library, a Museum, an Exhibition Hall, an Archive Center and other functions. The center will serve as a vehicle for community outreach and education. Among other things, it will complement the existing Saudi Aramco Exhibit in telling the inspiring story of the company's development over the past seven and a half decades. The Cultural Center is tentatively scheduled to open in the fourth quarter of 2010.
We are seeking the assistance of Saudi Aramco retirees, former employees and dependents in locating and gathering historical materials, documents and artifacts that could be displayed in the Cultural Center's museum. Such items may include old equipment, tools, vehicles, signs, maps, historical documents, written memoirs, personal correspondence, films and photographs. We are primarily interested in donations or loans of such items. We are also interested in hearing about old logo'ed gift items and other interesting company memorabilia (from Aramco, Tapline or any other affiliate) that you may have seen for sale on an Internet website or in a flea market or antique shop in your hometown.
All such materials will be reviewed by the 75th Anniversary Project Team for their historical significance, their place within the Saudi Aramco story, and their physical condition.
