John David LaRue and Laura LaRue rode in the BP MS-150 to raise funds for people living with multiple sclerosis.
I just got back to Saudi Arabia after riding from Houston to Austin, TX in the MS-150 with my daughter Laura LaRue (Abqaiq Jr. High class of 1997). The BP MS 150 Bike Tour is a two-day cycling adventure from Houston to Austin that raises funds to help people living with multiple sclerosis. Our fundraising goal this year is $10,000, about double what we raised last year. We did this with individual donations, no corporate sponsors.
Donations can be made online at MS-150 Donation Form or checks can be sent to David LaRue Box 11394, Dhahran 31311, Saudi Arabia. The donation deadline for this year is May 13, 2008.
We ran into former Aramcon Doug McConnell and his son, the youngest official rider in the event. Doug’s wife Helen has MS. We were looking for other Aramcons, particularly fellow Aggie Dan Walters. With over 13,000 riders, it takes a certain amount of luck to spot a face in the crowd.
My wife’s brother, Kelly Keyworth, has had MS since his 30’s. Even though he is now wheelchair bound, he works a 40 hour week and does his part at home with 3 teenagers. I am hoping to have him at the finish line next year.
Thanks for your support,
