Former Planning and Programs Analyst, Saudi Aramco
Vicci Thompson lived and worked in Saudi Arabia for Saudi Aramco from 1975 – 2004 and have returned yearly since 2004. Working as a budget analyst for Saudi Aramco and with many Saudi Arabs has helped her to understand and appreciate the Saudi Arabs and Middle East.
In her position as a Planning and Programs Analyst, she was responsible for developing data, preparing documents, researching and producing reports and solutions as a result of the research. Her areas of responsibility included budgeting, accountability, performance indices, cost controls, training, managing and/or developing computer applications. As a liaison with Computer Application Department, she helped to develop the Ship Information System and Fleet Performance System for Vela International Marine, Ltd. She wrote specifications for the systems, including the actual formatting of the web site to algorithms for ship information calculations.
Prior to her position as an analyst, Ms. Thompson was a classroom teacher and taught courses including word processing, spreadsheets, database management, computer usage, business math and bookkeeping.
In 2002, she created and developed with her son Rusty the Aramco ExPats website which is designed to support a global forum through an online community. Aramco ExPats promotes association, communication, and fellowship while furthering a more informed image of Saudi Arabia than is commonly portrayed in the United States. She works with Saudi Aramco Public Relations Department in Dhahran. The web site that she and her son established has over 6,600 members and produces a weekly electronic newsletter.
