The young gazelle gracefully gamboled,
Bounding, leaping across the shifting dunes,
Innocence its essence,
Joyfully embracing the world.
Its deep big black eyes,
Filled with wonder, hope, dreams,
Taking in its surroundings,
Palm trees, cactus, barren rocks
Living in harmony with nature,
Striving and seeking the good in everything, everyone,
Unconsciously living by: live and let live
The unexpected onslaught
Felled innocence in its prime,
As vicious, ferocious wolves surrounded the lovely creature,
Tearing, gouging and consuming
Envious of its fame,
Envious of its gentleness,
Envious of its honesty,
Envious of its charisma,
Envious of its very spirit
Of integrity, love of the other, its very being.
