WILDE COMEDY

Dhahran Theatre Group presents, this week at the Dhahran Theater: May 19, 20, 21 and 22, 2003, at 7.30PM, “The Importance of Being Earnest” by Oscar Wilde.

Oscar Fingall O’Flahertie Wills Wilde wrote his final, and most lasting play, The Importance Of Being Earnest in 1895. He described it as being a “trivial comedy for serious people” in which he takes a satirical, fun-filled look at society. More than a century later it strikes a wonderful balance by remaining both a respected piece of literature, as well as a favourite with audiences.

WILDE COMEDY

It tells the tale of Algernon Moncrieff and Jack Worthing who have two problems. One comes in the shape of the fearsome Lady Bracknell. The other is in that neither of them is called Ernest. Unfortunately, the objects of their respective affections, Cecily and Gwendoline, living in an age of ideals, are infatuated by the name Ernest.
