Aramco Beats Riffa

BAHRAIN, 20 December — ARAMCO beat Riffa Golf Club 8 matches to 6 in the second match of their biannual competition held at the Riffa Golf Club.

Aramco golfers also dominated the individual section of the tournament, with Phil Ionta winning first prize with 46 points.

Tim McGhee and Alice Seil finished second and third respectively, both with 37 points.

However, Riffa members did claim all four of the nearest the pin side contest prizes.

"The Aramco matches are always well supported fixtures," said Riffa's golf operations manager Phil Jones. "Club pride is very much at stake and I would like to congratulate the Aramco players on their fine win. We look forward to taking them on again in 2006."

Over 80 golfers took part in the tournament which was played in the better ball matchplay format. The competition was followed by a lunch and prize-giving ceremony for all participants in the club's marquee.
