Sun Peaks Resort

Tod Mountain’s ski legacy began with a single chairlift in 1961.  Much has changed over forty years, as $450 million has been poured into the area to make it one of Canada’s premier ski destinations and the first stop for the Aramco ExPats Travel Club.  Renamed Sun Peaks Resort, this internationally renowned skil village has numerous amenities to ensure a fun and engaging trip for travelers of every age.

Sun Peaks is located in the interior regions of British Columbia, Canada’s westernmost province.  Thanks to this idyllic location, the snow cover at Sun Peaks is especially light and dry because the Coast Mountains protect the ski slopes from the Pacific Ocean’s mild weather.  With so many years of reliable snow conditions, fresh powder is practically guaranteed, but you can always check Sun Peak’s Snow Report for frequent updates on mountain weather.

The Sun Peaks site encompasses three mountains, allowing for 3,678 skiable acres with 121 runs.  Part of the Travel Club package includes the privilege of a Public Ski Day with Canadian Olympic Gold Medalist Nancy Greene, now the director of skiing at Sun Peaks.  You can also take a complimentary Sun Guide tour, where seasoned guides can help you find a slope that fits your ability and terrain preferences.

Sun Peaks Resort

Conveniently located at the base of the mountains is Sun Peaks’ alpine village, allowing easy access between the slopes and our accommodations at the Delta Sun Peaks Resort, as well as the many shops and eateries.  You can finish a ski run, and then grab a cup of coffee at Café Soleil before browsing the wares at Fusion North, a boutique featuring quality handmade knit items. Or, if you need a break on your way down the mountain, you can stop by the mid-mountain Sunburst Restaurant for fresh baked goods, sandwiches, and pasta.

When you’re not on the slopes, Sun Peaks has plenty of unique activities that will make your trip to British Columbia memorable.  The Activities and Information Centre at Sun Peaks organizes dog sledding tours, sleigh rides, and even bungee trampoline rides (for any adventurous individual weighing between 20 and 220lbs).  If you’re looking for a less physically taxing activity, make a rejuvenating appointment for a facial or a massage at one of three quality spas at Sun Peaks.

Whether you’re slaloming like a pro or enjoying a nightcap at Mackdaddy’s Nightclub, you definitely won’t want to miss the inaugural trip of the Aramco ExPats Travel Club and all the memories you’ll share with your ExPat cronies.
