Las Vegas is surrounded by scores of inspiring national parks.
Some, like the Grand Canyon, Yosemite, Zion National Park, Bryce Canyon, Death Valley, and the Valley of Fire, have millions of visitors who stare at the vision of God’s created beauty. Others, like the Great Basin National Park are relatively obscure and the natural treasures are appreciated mostly by local elite.

The Great Basin is especially enjoyed by retirees from Saudi Arabia and veterans of desert camping trips. Arabic is spoken under the waving branches of millions of pine trees. Some of those trees are 5,000 years old and have many stories to tell. Water gushing over the rocks and fallen logs cascades down from Mount Wheeler and also shares its age-old lessons.
