DHAHRAN, SAUDI ARABIA (October 31, 2007) - Members of the King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) International Advisory Council and Presidential Search Committee recently toured Saudi Aramco facilities.

They were hosted Oct. 22-23 by president and CEO Abdallah S. Jum‘ah and members of executive and corporate management.

Members of KAUST’s International Advisory Council and Presidential Search Committee Members of KAUST’s International Advisory Council and Presidential Search Committee see the inner workings of the Oil Supply, Planning and Scheduling center, hosted by executive vice president of Operations Khalid A. Al-Falih, senior vice president of Refining, Marketing and International Khalid G. Al-Buainain and KAUST interim president Nadhmi A. Al-Nasr.

The council is a key element in the startup of KAUST, King Abdullah ibn Abdulaziz Al Saud’s vision for a major education research institution, now under construction near Thuwal, on the Red Sea coast.

The advisory group is made up of world leaders in higher education, science and technology.

The 16-member Presidential Search Committee is composed of recognized leaders in academia, science and business and is overseeing the global search for KAUST’s founding president.

The visitors were treated to tours of some of Saudi Aramco’s key facilities, including the Oil Supply, Planning and Scheduling Department, the Exploration and Petroleum Engineering Center and its Geosteering Center, the Research and Development Center, and training facilities.

Their Dhahran tour was followed by a flight to Shaybah, where they watched the sun set over the dunes and had dinner at the hilltop tent, hosted by Jum‘ah.
