RIYADH, November 21, 2007 -- A four-day exhibition featuring national oil companies of OPEC member nations, international oil service companies and cultural exhibits from OPEC members opened Nov. 12 as HE Ali I. Al-Naimi, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, cut the ribbon.
The International Oil Exhibition was open to all summit attendees and those interested in learning more about OPEC member states. There, they could get comprehensive information on the numerous businesses and opportunities in the petroleum industry.
Visitors gather at the Saudi Aramco booth in the four-day exhibition that coincided with the gathering of OPEC leaders in Riyadh.
The exhibit was an international who’s who of leaders in the global petroleum business - including leading OPEC national oil companies, major international oil companies and the world’s best-known supply and service companies.
National oil companies were represented from around the world, including Iraq, Kuwait, Nigeria, Qatar, U.A.E., Venezuela, Indonesia, Iran and Saudi Arabia.
Among the international oil companies represented at the exhibit were Total, ExxonMobil and Chevron. Service companies and downstream industries included SABIC, Petrolube and SRAK.
“This is not a normal OPEC conference,” Al-Naimi said. “This is the Third OPEC Summit. It is a historical event, and it is extremely important for people to understand that we are here to discuss matters such as poverty, development, the environment and market stability.
“Policy matters and issues of oil pricing are matters of discussion for the OPEC conferences.”
