HOUSTON, February 13, 2008 -- Czar Ivan Cruz, Upstream Corrosion team leader with the Consulting Services Department, will be honored by the National Association of Corrosion Engineers (NACE) International on March 19 in New Orleans, Louisiana.
NACE will present Cruz with its prestigious Distinguished Service Award at the group’s annual conference, Corrosion 2008. The award is presented annually to NACE officers, appointed or elected, who have exhibited outstanding performance of their duties. That performance can be in any section, region, area or association activity.

Cruz has been active in the Saudi Arabia Section, holding several positions since moving to Saudi Arabia in 1992. He is credited with a key role in making the section a success. Cruz has been a member of NACE since 1977.
He formerly served as trustee, chairman and treasurer of the Saudi Arabia Section, and currently serves as the membership chair.
He has been active in organizing the Middle East Corrosion Conference, held every two years, and has served as Conference Technical Committee chairman. He also is an active member of more than a dozen NACE technical committees.
Cruz is a NACE-certified corrosion specialist, a materials selection/design specialist and a NACE course instructor. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in chemical engineering from De La Salle University in the Philippines.
