DHAHRAN, February 20, 2008 -- Celebrations will begin rolling out across the Kingdom and the world in April, as Saudi Aramco marks the 75th anniversary of the May 29, 1933, signing of the oil concession between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Standard Oil of California (Socal).
The events, in 67 locations, are celebrations of the company’s greatest resource, its employees. They will emphasize the importance and the accomplishments of those employees throughout its history - their excellence, their ideas and their innovations.
The marque for the anniversary, the number “75” with dots radiating from its center, symbolizes the company’s history of growth and giving, a history that combines human foresight with technical excellence and innovation. The image is accompanied by the slogan “Energy for generations,” which emphasizes the power of the company’s human and natural resources.
Saudi Aramco’s 75 years have been years of growth, but its people are not done growing. The future is looking up.
Saudi Aramco also has launched a media campaign that has heightened anticipation for the celebrations. The company’s weekly publications have, in special monthly supplements, published historical stories and data that speak of the transition of the Saudi Kingdom in the age of oil.
Another anniversary resource for employees is a dedicated Web site, www.saudiaramco75.com. Information about anniversary activities, milestones of company history and its social contributions over the past 75 years are available on the site. Former Saudi Aramco employees -- oil-field explorers, production managers and many others -- have shared their stories, which will be part of the Web site.
The site, in English and Arabic, is designed to be an easy-to-use educational resource on the history of the Kingdom’s oil era from human and societal perspectives.
Photos are a big part of the celebration, including photo albums on the Web site and a photo-history book that celebrates the people of Saudi Aramco.
