DHAHRAN, February 27, 2008 -- One of India’s foremost experts on energy visited Saudi Aramco Feb. 17-20 and came away with this impression: “Aramco is one of the greatest corporations on the face of our planet.”
Narendra Taneja, convenor, or chief executive, of the World Oil and Gas Assembly (WOGA), toured The Saudi Aramco Exhibit; Ras Tanura Terminal, Sea Island and Ju‘aymah by air; Ras Tanura Refinery; the Port Control Tower; the Exploration and Petroleum Engineering Center; the Research and Development Center; and Shaybah. He was also the luncheon guest of president and CEO Abdallah S. Jum‘ah.

“I enjoyed every minute of the discussions, visits and tours at various places,” he told Jum‘ah in an e-mail after he returned home to India. “But what stole my heart was the day visit to Shaybah - the Taj Mahal of Aramco’s energy world in terms of its sheer beauty, elegance and human endurance!”
But Shaybah was not the only impressive sight, he said. “The visit to the flagship Ras Tanura facilities and terminal was a mind-blowing experience. The scale and the efficiency on display there will remain in my memory forever.”
WOGA is an invitation-only conclave, open to select industry leaders, policy-makers, thinkers, strategists, bankers and associates. Taneja has been its chief executive since its beginnings.
He is highly respected by the Indian government, energy think tanks and industry leaders. He has written a book on Norway called “The Far People” and has made six documentary films, including one on Norway.
Jum‘ah has been a frequent participant and speaker at WOGA forums and international gatherings in India.
