RIYADH, August 20, 2008 -- Families in Riyadh are turning out for some summer fun at the Saudi Aramco Summer Festival in Ghurnatah Commercial Center.

As part of Saudi Aramco’s Community Outreach activities, which extend to all parts of the country, the goal of the program is to ingrain the essentials of health, safety and environmental awareness into the hearts and minds of children and help them develop the right behavioral skills and attitudes for a brighter future.

Khaled A. Al-Buraik, executive director of Saudi Aramco Affairs, gave a speech during the event, which has been running since Aug. 10 and ends Aug. 21. He spoke about the company’s commitment to the community - one of Saudi Aramco’s most important corporate values.

“We in Saudi Aramco paid special attention in presenting this informative program through a mix of education, entertainment, awareness and all-around good-natured fun,” said Al-Buraik.

Every day from 5:30-11 p.m., kids are overwhelmed with the variety of things to see and do. There are several educational exhibits that focused on everything from healthy eating habits and proper living to environmental conservation and training programs.

Riyadh Refinery is participating by holding competitions and awarding prizes. Refinery employees also staffed an exhibit that taught visitors about refinery operations, explained the differences in refined products and demonstrated proper safety practices in the workplace.

More than 1,000 kids each day have spent time in a section of the exhibit dedicated to drawing, coloring and the arts. In this art corner, kids spend hours capturing their imaginations on paper and unleashing creative ideas.

On stage, Tae Kwon Do demonstrations by employees’ children have captured the attention of kids and adults alike.
