A fire that erupted at Saudi Aramco’s Ras Tanura oil terminal Wednesday morning killed an employee but did not affect operations, a spokesperson of the company said.
“The fire took place at approximately 4:50 a.m. and Saudi Aramco emergency responders controlled it in less than an hour,” the spokesperson said.
The company expressed its deep sorrow at the death of the employee and conveyed condolences to the bereaved family. The accidental leak that led to the death is under investigation.
The complex has the capacity to refine more than 550,000 barrels of oil per day. Crude is normally transferred to Ras Tanura through a pipeline and can also be supplied by ship.
