Howard Norton
Having taught math and social science to Saudi employees of Aramco at the company’s Industrial Training Center (ITC) from 1958 to 1968, Mr. Norton must be very proud and satisfied to see that many of his students have since become part of the company’s Executive Management. From 1969 to 1970, he was Assistant Principal at the ITC.
A move to the company’s Computer Systems department, where he worked for seven years, developed Mr. Norton’s skills as a computer analyst. He subsequently transferred to Gas Operations, where he spent two years as Planning and Program Engineer, and then went on to work at Maintenance Systems Support, under the Mechanical Services Organization, until his retirement in January, 1989.
Along with his wife, Mary, Mr. Norton has participated in The Aramco History Project, initiated by Mr. Paul Nance, founder of The Nance Museum. This is an ongoing effort to capture on tape the memories of Aramco’s early employees and their spouses.
Mr. Norton earned a BS in Agriculture at Oklahoma State University and a BS in Education at SE Oklahoma State.
