I came to Saudi Arabia in 1975 and have lived in all four camps. I raised my family here and have worked in a number of Aramco Organizations, including teaching school in Abqaiq and Udhailiyah, working as a Planning and Programs Analyst for Offshore Drilling and the Marine Department in Ras Tanura, and Process Computers and Vela International in Dhahran.
My son Rusty Swayne, an Aramco Brat, and I came up with the idea of starting Aramco ExPats. Rusty owns a web development business, www.mindfly.com, in Bellingham, Washington and is the main programmer behind this website. The Aramco ExPats’ virtual community was officially launched July 2002.
I have two beautiful grandchildren, Jacob (4 1/2 years) and Satomi (2 1/2 years) from number two son, Brad and his wife Taka. They live in Maryland where Brad is photographer/instructor at the Non-Commissioned Officer Academy, Fort Meade.
Woody is a navigator in the Air Force, stationed in Doha, and Matthew will be on Nantucket this summer as a lifeguard. My husband Errol, pilot for Saudi Aramco, retired May 1st.
Being asked to come back to Saudi Arabia after being away for only one month to accompany the Houston Educators on this tour is a real delight and very fulfilling experience for me. I will be hurrying back to Orlando from this tour as Rusty and his fiancé, Kara Belka, are getting married June 9th!
