Scratch Maple Flavored Syrup

Recipes from Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, 1966 - 1972

8 cups water
2 tbsp. maple flavoring (it was usually available locally)
7 lbs. sugar
A few drops of butter flavoring (optional)

Combine everything in a saucepan and bring to a rolling boil.  Cook until sugar is completely dissolved which takes only a few minutes!

For a smaller quantity of syrup, use the proportions of: 1 cup of water to 2 cups of sugar to 1/2 tsp. maple flavoring.
