While we are still here in Collegeville I suppose the posts will be fairly frequent.  To start off with we will be moving to a town called Ras Tanura in the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia.  This is a beach community with blue water, palm trees and sand beaches.  It's not the caribbean but it will do for now.  We are at the point now where we need to take a trip to Houston for a medical exam and then start inventorying the house for when they come to pack us up for the move.  When we get to Saudi we will be a month or two without our stuff as it tries to catch up with us coming accross the ocean.  Quite a task.  Imagine having to make a list of EVERYTHING in your house......

I got married and moved in February, 1983 to be with my husband (American, also) who had been working in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia. We thought it was just going to be for 3-5 years. Sixteen years later we HAD to move back to the USA due to our parents' failing health issues. You'll be surprised how comfortable it becomes and how quickly the time will pass. I used to love to go to Ras Tanura for a visit to sit on the beach. What a VIEW! If you're inclined, take up sailing, windsurfing, and/or scuba diving. The Carribean can wait. Scuba diving in the Red Sea can be the most spectacular water experience of your life.

Suggestion: Keep that household inventory and KEEP IT UPDATED any time you buy something or sell or give away anything. That will make your life so much more simple when you do move away from Saudi Arabia - be it 2 or 20 years later.

Good luck, and enjoy!
