ACS Cobham’s boarding house is located at the heart of our magnificent 128-acre Surrey campus, only 30 minutes from London. We offer both the prestigious International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma and Advanced Placement (AP) courses, with secure separate wing accommodation which is home to boys and girls aged 12 to 18.

As part of an increasingly mobile world society, the ACS Boarding House has established itself as a champion of internationalism, with students representing more than 30 nationalities. We are proud of our multicultural identity, and actively celebrate the things that make us different as an integral part of boarding life.
All our students are respected as individuals, and our dedicated staff support their personal, social and educational development into responsible global citizens. Every ACS boarder is assigned a resident teacher/supervisor who will promote their independent learning skills, monitor and guide each student’s academic progress, and deal promptly and sympathetically with any personal situation that may arise. There are also school Counselors, and a campus Nurse, plus six resident House Parents, including the Head of Boarding, Ryn Brandse, and his wife Ann, who together have nearly 40 years experience at ACS.
Facilities
All student rooms are ergonomically designed for two, with en suite bathrooms, and individual study desks with wireless internet access throughout the building. All students have use of the community lounges, games rooms, a boarders-only dining hall for breakfast and dinner, and two fully equipped student kitchenettes.
Exceptional campus recreational facilities include soccer and rugby fields, softball and baseball diamonds, an all-weather Olympic-sized athletics track, six tennis courts, and a six-hole golf course. In addition, boarders also have full use of our state-of-the-art Sports Centre complete with an international arena for basketball and volleyball, gymnasium, a 25-metre competition-class swimming pool, fitness suite with weight-training, dance & aerobics studio, a sports merchandise shop, and a cafeteria.
The academic programme
With 30 years’ experience delivering outstanding IB and AP exam results at ACS, our graduates regularly secure places at the finest universities around the world, including Oxford, Cambridge, the London School of Economics, Imperial, Harvard, Yale, MIT, Stanford, Delft, Keio and McGill.
While we are proud of the high academic standards achieved by our graduates, our educational philosophy has always been to promote the ‘whole’ student. Our programme is designed to support a developmental, student-centred approach, where teaching for understanding is coupled with a stimulating and varied curriculum.
Annual activities & events
At ACS we understand that a rich boarding experience must include a wide variety of fun and educational extracurricular activities. We encourage all our students to get involved, and make the most of the opportunities available to them such as:
Historic visits: The Houses of Parliament, Buckingham Palace, Hampton Court, Portsmouth Historic Docks, Lord’s Cricket Ground, The Tower of London, Westminster Abbey, The Royal Pavilions Brighton, Chelsea Flower Show
Museums: Natural History, Museum of Rugby, Imperial War Museum, National Portrait Gallery
The Arts: West End Plays, the Ballet, Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre
In-House: Pizza parties, Winter Concert, Thanksgiving Dinner, Winter Prom, Talent Show, International Night, Fashion Show, Middle East Night, Family Fete
Outreach & Adventure: Outward Bound, Habitat for Humanity, Duke of Edinburgh, World Challenge Namibia.
The Boarding House philosophy
