The Benefits of a Wasatch Academy Education
Educating citizens of the world since 1875, Wasatch Academy is Utah’s oldest traditional, college preparatory boarding school for young men and young women in grades 9-12. At Wasatch Academy, the 230 student body represents 29 countries and 23 states in the United States.
The average class size is 10 allowing for dedicated teachers to give individual attention to each child. This allows for specific emphasis to each student’s learning needs, opportunities for student collaboration, and engaging class discussions. The school’s philosophy is that students learn best through planned reading, writing, and experiential situations across the curriculum.
Wasatch is committed to teaching students to succeed independently with self-discipline, time management, and learning strategies thus preparing them to become successful in a college or university setting. Students receive additional academic assistance through the integration of School’s Attuned methodologies. All full-time teachers and dormitory parents receive training and certification by The All Kinds of Minds Institute.
Wasatch Academy offers Advanced Placement (AP) classes, Learning Support, and traditional Honors classes. Our diverse course offerings include English, Spanish, Japanese, Latin, French, History (American and World), Math, Philosophy, Fine Arts courses, field-based and laboratory sciences, and English as a Second Language.
Graduation requirements include 24 academic credits, community service, outdoor experiences, cultural and recreational outings. Students participate in over fifty extracurricular activities from equine science to snowboarding every afternoon. Faculty, as advisors get to know their students’ personalities, aptitudes, learning styles, and interests as they meet in and out of the classroom.
College placement is the end result of education at Wasatch Academy. Wasatch Academy is designed for students with high academic aspirations who desire to go on to attend college.
The top ten college matriculations for the past five years are: Brigham Young University, University of Utah, Harvard University, Mount Holyoke, New York University, Northwestern University, Oxford University, United States Military Academy at West Point, University of Chicago, and Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.

The office of admission is currently accepting applications for the 2009-2010 school year. The 2009 spring semester has just a few spaces available for immediate enrollment. The 2009 summer session begins June 23rd ending August 8th.
