The Fenster School is a small boarding high school offering students a college preparatory curriculum in Tucson, Arizona. Our curriculum and standards are those of a rigorous boarding school. But, Fenster also specializes in turning around students who are unable to reach their potential traditional academic settings.
Fenster's mission is to work with each student until he or she earns admission into a university or college. Last year, as is typical, 100% of Fenster’s graduating seniors were accepted into college or universities. Fenster’s goal is to make sure each student thrives not only academically but also becomes a well-rounded individual.
Vital elements of our program are:
- Weekly academic reports sent to parents.
- The powerful motivation tool of granting “perks” based on student effort, accountability and responsibility.
- Small class sizes, averaging one teacher per 7 students.
- Self-esteem building via daily recognition about the accomplishments of our students.
- Outstanding faculty - all Fenster teachers have degrees in their academic content areas and over half the staff has a masters or PH.D degrees.
- Providing students the opportunity to take college credit courses. (Last year’s 28 graduating seniors earned 295 college credits while at Fenster).
- Mandatory daily tutorials by teachers as necessary to improve grades.
- Mandatory study tables 5 nights per week as deemed necessary.
Campus Life
Fenster School's 150-acre campus is surrounded by the warmth and beauty of the Sonoran Desert and is nestled in the foothills of the Santa Catalina Mountains which offer canyons, creeks and waterfalls to explore, as well as Mount Lemmon, the country's southern-most ski area. Students can hike, ski, ride horses, or swim - all in the same day.
The Fenster Boarding School grounds include stables with a top-notch equestrian program (students may bring personal horses to the program), athletic fields and courts, swimming pool, ropes course with climbing tower and weight lifting. Near the rustic adobe buildings of the campus lay ancient Hohokam Indian archeological sites that flourished as a native community centuries ago.
Our Students
Fenster School is a highly recognized international boarding school with a diverse study body from all different backgrounds. Fenster accepts students, grades 9 – 12, who are college bound. We also accept those who, for a variety of reasons, have been unable to succeed in mainstream school settings. Because of our small size, a remarkable degree of personal attention is possible in the classroom.
Our programs for international students who want to study in the United States focus on English fluency through a superior ESL program.

Teachers monitor the academic performances of their students constantly and each day teachers identify the students who need extra help. One-on-one tutorials are then utilized to get students back on track.
