Update on the Lamb family:  (Ras Tanura – 1970 thru 1974 and 1977 thru 1982) We have lived in Fort Pierce, Florida, where we bought a beach house in 1977, long enough to call ourselves semi-natives. When the temperature gets below 60, we put on long johns, bring our tropical birds and orchids in the house.

Harry has retired and lives the good life, building great race car engines, while I (Daren) write books. Son, Gar (RT 1974) and Sylvie, who is French born, live in Fort Pierce, also. Jon (RT 1975), at the ripe old age of 47, has just finished medical school residency and he and Sue will be living and practicing in Venice, Florida. Harry, Jr., better known to Aramcons as Petey, (who would have been in the RT 1977 class), and his wife, Cammy, who is Japanese-American, and our only two grandchildren, live in Lexington, Missouri.  We are indeed an international family.

We miss the life in Ras Tanura. It was a lifestyle we have found no where since leaving. We keep in touch with many of our friends and enjoy hearing from them, either by e-mail or phone, and welcome all who make the trip to see us.  Some come yearly. Visits are spent talking expat talk and reminiscing about old times. We always entertain with al kabsah, (Arab chicken and rice, the Saudi natio

nal dish, we were told), hummus and taboullah. All are from recipes from the Najmah Surf House in the early ‘70s. Our regular menus cover recipes from friends world-wide, and include Greek dishes from Billie Yianniakakis and curries from Sebastian and Queenie Alva, and recipes we have picked up while living in Indonesia. Our neighbors come running to our door when the wonderful smells emit from our house and they all know when we have a party, it won’t be chips and dip, but exotic foods from far off lands.

I have had relative success with my three fiction novels. I write fiction stories that are set in other countries and leave it up to the reader to decide what is fiction and where fiction turns into fact. The first, Djakarta!, was set in the capital city of Jakarta, Indonesia, where we lived. The second, Fool’s Challenge, was set in Saudi Arabia, Europe and Singapore. The latest, For Poorer or Richer, ‘til Death, takes place in Greece. A sequel to this book is in progress at this time. I have a wealth of material and characters on which I can base my books. The stories just materialize when I sit down at the computer. (All books are available on my web site or at your favorite book store.)

We organized an Expat Luncheon in 2006, and it was well attended. We are late getting the second one on line, due to a couple of  knee replacemenets and minor afflictions of old age, but one is being planned to take place here in Fort Pierce within the next two or three months. We have a great list of people who live within driving distance, so we expect a large crowd.

If any of you ever come to the Treasure Coast, please give us a call. We are always in the phone book and will welcome you with open arms.
