Leo J. ("Moon") Mullin, Jr.

February 5, 2013

Leo J. ("Moon") Mullin, Jr., of Conroe, TX, formerly of The Woodlands, TX, peacefully passed away on February 5, 2012, at the age of 87. He was predeceased in death by his parents, Leo J. Mullin, Sr., and Mary Flynn Mullin. Leo was born in Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania, and spent his childhood there. He enlisted in the U.S. Army after high school and served during WWII in the Pacific Theatre as a paratrooper in the 11th Airborne. Later, he had the opportunity to expand on this early taste of travel.

Leo was an avid sports enthusiast and lettered in football and lacrosse at the University of Delaware where he graduated in 1950 with a degree in Electrical Engineering. Later, in 1967, he earned a masters degree in Project Management at Drexel University in Philadelphia, PA. Leo loved to read, travel (he visited all 50 states and over 30 countries), attending football and lacrosse games, engaging in the fine art of debate, and his family. He maintained a life long association with his teammates from University of Delaware and the 11th Airborne. He will be cherished and remembered in so many ways by his family and friends.

His professional career took Leo to an array of places, both in the U.S. and overseas. After stints with AT&T, DuPont and the Hercules Corporation that moved Leo and his family from the northeastern U.S. to Louisiana, Leo accepted a job with the Arabian American Oil Company (ARAMCO) and relocated to Saudi Arabia in 1971. That was the beginning of 15 years of challenges and adventures for him and his family as he oversaw several major projects in the Kingdom and had the opportunity to travel extensively throughout the world.

Leo's cherished wife of 37 years, Rae Cericola, whom he met at the University of Delaware, predeceased him in 1989. Survivors include son, Leo J. Mullin, Jr. ("Lee") (Susan) of Conroe, TX; daughter, Jeanie Mullin Valentine (Rick) of Houston, TX; son, Charlie Mullin (Kerry) of New Orleans, LA and daughter, Mary Mullin Jones (John) of Pearland, TX. Also, granddaughter, Rachel Ann Mullin, of Austin, TX, grandsons, Chase Mullin (Katie) and Devin Mullin, all of New Orleans, LA, and grandson, Charlie Jones, and granddaughter, Sophia Jones, both of Pearland, TX.

Those wishing to contact the family may do so in care of Mary Mullin Jones, 2604 Gunpowder Lane, Pearland, Texas 77581.

My deepest sympathies to the Mullin family and my
fellow Dh.'72 and Hill School '75 classmate Charlie.
Charlie and I were the first Aramco brats to attend
The Hill School in Pottstown, Pa. back in 1972.

Leo will be missed but at 87 he had a full and
exciting life! Lets hope we all can be so
    fortunate.

Will miss my old tennis and SSS playing partner. We use to play a set of tennis in the morning before starting work at 0700. Never could overcome his "Gorilla arm" serve which always produced an ACE for him.

We were deeply saddened to learn of Leo's passing. I spent many pleasant hours on the handball courts competing with Leo and others over the years. Leo was a big man in many ways and a tough competitor on the court, and in life. He will be missed, but our lives are enriched for having known him. God bless him and his family.

My goodness how did I miss this!

Jim Maher,Keith McCormick, and myself will remember happy days and "amazing events" (unpublishable) with Leo on many SSS Bahrain Bowls many many moons ago.
An entertaining excellent man - and yes siree highly competitive in a lovable kind of way!

Can it be so long ago?
