The first grade classes at Manlius Pebble Hill School in Manlius, New York had their annual World's Fair this past week.
Each child chooses a country to study and present at the fair. Naturally my granddaughter, Satomi Sue Swayne, chose Saudi Arabia. The students dressed the part, constructed a booth and served food from their region.
The fair was extremely well attended with a couple of hundred parents, grandparents, MPH students and friends.
The multipurpose room was set up with a runway down the middle of the audience. Each first grader displayed their native dress in a costume show.
After the show, Tomi and her friends each went to their country booth and explained to their parents and friends about their country. Satomi served dried dates, apricots and baklava. She also gave out Saudi Aramco Heritage Museum coloring books to her classmates.
The MPH first grade did a wonderful job; a great way for children to learn about the world.
