Jamil F. Al-Dandany was named Director of Public Affairs for Houston-based Aramco Services Company (ASC) in July of 2002. ASC is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Saudi Aramco, the national oil company of Saudi Arabia.
Dandany was a lecturer and assistant professor of International Relations at King Abdulaziz Military Academy in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia for nearly six years before he joined Saudi Aramco in 1993 as a translator in the company’s Language Services Division in Dhahran.
Five years later, Dandany was elevated to administrator of the division and in 2001 he was named general supervisor of the Publications Division of Public Relations Department, overseeing all English and Arabic publications produced by the company.
The following year Dandany was assigned as a consultant to the Public Relations Advisory Staff – a group charged with advising Saudi Aramco Affairs management on public relations-related issues.
Dandany graduated in 1979 from the University of Riyadh with a B.A. in Arts & Education. Dandany went on to earn a Master of Public and International Affairs degree from the University of Pittsburgh in 1982. In 1987 he also obtained a Master of Arts in Law and Diplomacy from Tufts University. He then proceeded to earn a Doctor of Philosophy degree from Tuft’s Fletcher School of Law & Diplomacy in 1990.
