On a bright, early Thursday morning in November 2009, seven library students joined me in passing out 225 gift packages containing a couple pairs of work socks or a winter cap to the contract workers of Udhailiyah.
The students got quite a workout on their bikes as we crisscrossed the community for three hours, passing out personal “thank you” messages and gifts to the workers. It was a positive experience for our students to be involved and I’m sure they will long remember this morning of community service. They are looking forward to doing it again next year!
