Laurene Ann Opdyke Nursing Scholarship

There are seven $2,500 scholarships available.

Dear Friends of Laurene,

As of June 1st, there will be ten $2,500 scholarships available to those who are either a junior or senior, with a 3.0 in an accredited nursing program leading toward licensure as a professional Registered Nurse.

The enclosed letter consists of four parts: what the scholarship is; how to apply; who is running the scholarship; supporting the scholarship. On the reverse, is a short summery of Laurene's professional career and a little about her as an individual.

The goal of this announcement is to get applicants. This is where I need your help. Please make copies of the enclosed letter and give them to anyone you think could take advantage of this program. This is a sustaining scholarship, if an applicant doesn't qualify this year or doesn't make the cutoff date of June 1st, he or she can apply next year.

Thank you in advance for your efforts,

Richard

Dear Friends of Laurene,

The Laurene Ann Opdyke Nursing Scholarship will be awarding ten $2,500 scholarships to nursing students in their junior or senior year. The applicants must be enrolled in an accredited program leading toward licensure as a professional Registered Nurse - either through a bachelor or a diploma nursing program. There is no restriction on state residency or which accredited school one attends.

My main purpose is to generate awareness, promote interest and, hopefully, encourage qualified applicants for this scholarship. So, if you know of anyone who would qualify for this scholarship, please have them contact the Oklahoma City Community Foundation. To learn more about the application process, go to occf.org, click Scholarships and then click Apply Now from the menu. If the applicant needs help, there are names of individuals, their phone numbers and email addresses, who will be most happy to assist the applicant in the application process. The application must be in by June 1st.

I chose the Oklahoma City Community Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit public charity, because it works with donors and charitable organizations. The Foundation is one of the region's most trusted and credible charitable organizations. It manages 3000 funds and has total assets of $1.6 billion. More information can be obtained through the Foundation's web site: www.occf.org.

As I stated before, my main purpose is to encourage qualified applicants, but if you want to join me in supporting this scholarship, please send your tax- deductible charitable contribution to:

Oklahoma City Community Foundation
1000 North Broadway Avenue
Oklahoma City, OK 73102

Please note that your donation is for the Laurene Ann Opdyke Nursing Scholarship.

Thank you all,
