Alan R. Randall, 57, a resident of Brewster, MA, died Thursday, (May 31, 2001) after a long illness. Surviving are his wife, Sharon Spring Randall of Brewster, MA; two daughters, Krista Driscoll of Barnstable, MA and Jennifer Randall of Hyannis, MA; a son, Mark Randall of Brewster, MA; and two grandchildren, Madison and Kellen Driscoll. His parents, Harold and Cathryn Randall of Fort Myers, FL; two sisters, Marjorie Verrengia of Enfield, and Barbara Hamburger of Australia; and several nieces and nephews also survive him. Born in Hartford, in 1943, Mr. Randall attended Granby Memorial High School, Purdue University for Civil Engineering, and State University of New York for Accounting. An entrepreneur his entire life, he formed DeRan Enterprises, which was comprised of a heavy construction company, a highway landscaping company and a logging company in upstate New York, before moving to Saudi Arabia. In 1984, he moved to Cape Cod, after many years in Saudi Arabia as the general manager of DeMauro-Schuwayer, an international construction company with 3500 employees that was involved in a wide variety of projects (housing developments, sewage treatment plants, a de-salinization plant, airport runways, etc.) for ARAMCO and the Saudi military establishment. While in the Middle East, he also formed an international trading company, importing and selling construction materials. After returning to the States, desiring a career change, he started a software company developing vertical market software programs. In 2000, he sold the rights to his software, and became a contract computer consultant. In his free time, he enjoyed world travel and flying, being an instrument-rated private airplane pilot, flying his own planes for recreation as well as business.
