Dr. Betty Whitaker Siano, 90, formerly of Appomattox, died Thursday, December 7, 2017, in Arkansas. She was the wife of the late James Nano Siano.

Born in New Jersey, on December 7, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Anne and William F. Whitaker. She was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Lynchburg, St. Joseph’s Church in Keyport, N.J., and the Spout Spring Ruritan Club.

Betty received her bachelor degree from Jersey City State Teachers College and taught school for over 30 years at Keansburg Elementary in N.J. She received her Doctorate degree from Monmouth University. Betty spent four years in Saudi Arabia working as an administrator for Aramco.

She is survived by her son, James Siano of Little Rock, Ark. and two brothers, William Whitaker of Keensburg, N.J. and Dannie Whitaker of N.H.

A funeral service will be held 3 p.m., Wednesday, December 13, 2017, at Robinson Funeral Home by Father Jim Gallagher. Burial will follow in Liberty Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, Dec. 12 from 6 until 7:30 p.m.
