Hairl F. "PaPa" Lawson, age 74, of Lake Coleman, Texas died Tuesday, November 5, 2002 at his residence.  Funeral services were held at 4:00 p. m. Saturday in Stevens Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Charles Sheffield officiating.  Burial followed in the Coleman Cemetery, under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.

Mr. Lawson was born October 20, 1928 in Seminole, Oklahoma and was a son of Walter Jackson Lawson and Jewel Irene Whitecotton Lawson.  He grew up and attended school in Oklahoma.  He served in the U.S. Army in the Korean War.  On December 2,1952 he married Wanda V. Rimer in Arlington, New Mexico and she preceded him in death on May 5, 2002.  He lived in Crane in the early 1950's, Odessa for 30 years and in Saudi Arabia for 13 years where he was a consultant for ARAMCO.  He moved to Lake Coleman in 1978 and at the time of his death was the owner of Concho Car Wash. He was Baptist.

Survivors include three daughters, Linda Mahan of Weinert, Texas, Pamela Maples of Odessa, Texas and Vickie Hodges of Lake Coleman, Texas; one brother, Leroy Lawson of Boerne, Texas; eight sisters, Helen Ward and Edith Wiegert, both of Harrah, Oklahoma, Rosie Wiegert and Mary Lou Canada, both of Oklahoma, Ellen Jilge of Wellston, Oklahoma, Jackie Hazel of California, Annie Ratcliffe of Illinois and Alice Davis of Wellston, Oklahoma; 13 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; one sister, Glayds Lawson; and a granddaughter, Lendra Mae Hodges.

Pallbearers were Leonard Mahan, Donald Mahan, Bryan West, Gary West, John Robert Hodges and Ben E. Maples.  Honorary pallbearer was Bryan Shultz.  Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Big Country, 4601 Hartford, Abilene, Texas 79605.
