Harry S. Yaplee, 44, an Aramco employee for six years, drowned early this week in an accident in Tahiti, according to word received here. Mr. Yaplee, his wife and two children were vacationing in Tahiti during their repatriation leave.

Memorial services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in the Dhahran Theater.

Born in the state of Washington, Mr. Yaplee received B.S. and M.S. degrees in chemical engineering from the University of Washington. He began his career with Standard Oil of California, working as a petroleum engineer and research engineer at La Habra, Calif.

He was transferred to Aramco and arrived in Dhahran in June, 1959, joining the Producing Department's Oil Operations Laboratory. At the time of his death he was supervisor, Reservoir Fluids.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy, and the children, 6-year-old Steven and-4-year old Arlene. They are now in the United States and may be contacted in care of Ed Yaplee, 3016 Scotland Street, Los Angeles, Calif. [Photograph]
