Kenneth Stanley Cressman, 79, of Stillwater, died Wednesday, Sept. 29, 2004, in his home.

A memorial service will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m. in the First United Methodist Church of Stillwater. The Rev. Stanley M. Warfield Jr. will officiate.

He was born to Wilmot Stanley and Mary Ethel (Pinch) Cressman June 18, 1925. He was born and grew up in London, Ontario, where he graduated from the University of Western Ontario in 1948 with a B.S. in honor physics and mathematics. Upon commencement, he began work with Amerada Petroleum in Calgary as an exploration geophysicist.

In Calgary, he met Elda Louise Hutchinson. After a two year courtship, they were married Nov. 18, 1950. They honeymooned at Banff, then proceeded to the U.S., where he worked in Tulsa, west Texas and New Mexico before settling in Tulsa in 1954. In Tulsa, their sons, David, Keith and Daniel were born. He received his master's of science in geophysics from TU in 1959. While in Tulsa, they taught children's Sunday school and led children's church at Memorial Baptist Church. They became U.S. citizens in 1964. He served as president of the Geophysical Society of Tulsa.

After 27 years with Amerada, Ken, Elda and Dan moved to London, England, where he began his work for Aramco as supervisor of applied research. In 1982, they moved with Aramco to Dhahran, Saudi Arabia, where he worked until retiring to Stillwater in 1988.

There he became active in the Lions Club and would serve a term as president. They delivered Mobile Meals from 1991 until August of this year and were members of the First United Methodist Church, Stillwater, where he enjoyed UM Men.

He was predeceased by his brother, Clare, in Ontario.

He is survived by his wife; sons and daughters-in-law, David and Barbara of McAlester, Keith and Adrienne of Oklahoma City and Daniel and Carole of Ribera, N.M.; six granddaughters, Sarah Green and husband, Brian, of Huntsville, Texas, Abbey, a student at Baylor University, Rebekah and Lydia of Oklahoma City and Daniella and Amia of Ribera; his older sister, Ruth Sherren of Calgary and six nieces and nephews in Ontario and Alberta.
