Mel Cole Passes Away
Mel will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
With much sadness, Mike and I would like to inform you that Mel Cole passed away unexpectedly on August 31, 2002 at his home in Nevada. He had been working in Houston, Texas and had returned home for the Labor Day Weekend. Early Saturday morning, Patti found him slumped at the side of the bed. A heart attack was the presumed cause of death; Mel was 70 years old in June. On Saturday, Sept. 7, Mel will be driven in the back of his beloved black, El Camino through town to be buried in Genoa. As everyone in the small town of Genoa knew and loved Mel, it was felt this would be an appropriate ride that Mel would wish. A celebration of his life is planned following his burial. Mel and Patti lived in Dhahran from 1981 until his retirement in 1993. Mel worked as an estimator in Resources Planning Dept.; Patti worked in Security.
