Norma Louise Cumpston
Norma Louise Cumpston, age 97, of Fayetteville, died Sunday, April 28, 2019. She was born December 4, 1921 in Ticonderoga, New York the daughter of Lawrence Andrew and Gladys Muriel Elliott LaBelle. She was preceded in death by her husband, Milo James Cumpston in 2009.
She was a graduate of Cortland State Teachers College and received an MA from Columbia University in New York. She taught Junior High at Arabian American Oil Company schools in Saudi Arabia beginning in 1952 and retired in 1979. She was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Fayetteville.
She is survived by three sons, James Cumpston of Fayetteville, John Cumpston and Betsy Finocchi of Fayetteville and Jeffrey Cumpston and his wife Tricia of Wesley; a brother, Robert LaBelle of Baldwinsville, New York; five grandchildren, Daisy Cumpston O’Callaghan, Travis McKenna, Kyle Cumpston, Sarah Cumpston and Miles Cumpston USN and one great-grandchild, Milo Cumpston O’Callaghan.
Funeral service will be 1:00 pm Thursday May 2, 2019 St. Paul’s Episcopal Church followed by burial at Fayetteville National Cemetery, under the direction of Moore’s Chapel.
