Peggy Strowd Woods Kearney
Angier, North Carolina - Peggy Strowd Woods Kearney, age 90, passed away November 11, 2021, in Angier, NC. Peggy was born in June 1931 in Hillsborough, NC. She was the youngest and last surviving child of Roger Henry and Sudie Hunt Woods. She was preceded in death by her brothers and sisters: Macon Woods, Virginia Woods Merritt, Wilford Woods, Ada Woods Christopher, Gillie "Pete" Woods, Helen Woods Gates, Henry Woods, and Roger Woods Jr.
Peggy earned a nursing degree from Charlotte Memorial. She worked at the Rockefeller Institute for Medical Research in New York City, the Arabian American Oil Company (ARAMCO) in Saudi Arabia, the King Khalid Eye Specialist Hospital in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia and the Duke Eye Center in Durham, NC. Peggy loved traveling and traveled the world. When gathering her things, her family found six completely full passports and wonder how many more they did not find.
Peggy is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Tricia and Fred McKellar of Fuquay Varina; her granddaughter Cleo Davis and partner Alex Millar of Durham; niece Kay (Alvin) Bolick of Hillsborough; nephew Thomas (Pat) Gates of Hillsborough; and many more nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be at New Sharon United Methodist Church, Hillsborough, NC on Saturday, November 20, 2021 at 1pm.
