Roger Wing

Deceased: 27 February 2005

Under: Obituary

Roger's funeral has been arranged for Friday 11th March, and everyone is welcome.  I know that some of you are too far away to even think about coming, but I am sure you will be sharing your thoughts of Roger with us somehow.

There will be a church service at Emmanuel Church, Bungay, Suffolk at 12:30 p.m. followed by time for sharing memories in one of his favourite pubs, the Green Dragon, then cremation at Gorleston (Gt. Yarmouth) crematorium at 3:20 p.m. This is an unusual order of events I know, but it is what we know Roger wanted. Everyone is welcome at any and every stage of the day.

Friday 11th March is Red Nose Day (Comic Relief) - for those of you who may not know, it is an annual national event where money is raised for charity in humorous ways, including the wearing of plastic red noses. And Roger was the kind of guy who would have gone along to a funeral with a red nose in his pocket, and sooner or later would have put it on to give someone a much-needed laugh. So certainly once we leave the church, red noses, etc. are optional. We want to make donations to Roger's favourite charity, Amnesty International, but we shall also be making a donation to Comic Relief - I bet it's their first ever sponsored funeral!

At Kim & Tanya's request, my home will be the official starting point for the cortege. If any of you want somewhere to freshen up, have a cup of tea, or get changed, this is the place. If you need overnight accommodation, let me know:
