William Davis Lindsey died on November 6, 2001 in Seroe Colorado, Aruba. Bill was a beloved son, husband, father and grandfather and will be missed by all who knew him. Bill was born in Houston on July 4, 1943 and was raised in Beaumont. He graduated from Beaumont High School where he played football and basketball and ran track. He then attended Southern Methodist University and graduated from Lamar University. After graduating from college, Bill married Sherrill Fontenot, his wife of 36 years. He then joined the United States Air Force, serving his country from 1966 until 1971 and attaining the rank of Captain. Bill then began his career in the oil and gas industry with Zapata Marine Services Company. After leaving Zapata, Bill worked for Reading & Bates, Saudi Aramco, Aramco Services Company, and El Paso/Coastal Aruba. While working for Saudi Aramco, Bill and his family lived in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia. At the time of his death, he served as the Employee Relations Manager of El Paso Energy/Coastal Aruba Refining Company N.V. in Aruba. He is survived by his mother, Grace Lindsey of Beaumont; his wife, Sherrill Fontenot Lindsey; his sister, Catherine Johnson of Dallas; his son, Christopher Eugene Lindsey of Houston, and his wife, Molly Lindsey; his daughter, Jessica Shafie of Houston, and her husband Shay Shafie; and his two grandchildren, Christopher Austin Lindsey and Olivia Grace Lindsey. He is preceded in death by his father, Dr. E. H. Lindsey, and his brother, E. H. Lindsey, Jr. Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. on Sunday at Forest Lawn Funeral Home in Beaumont, and his funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, November 12 at the First United Methodist Church in Beaumont.
