William Kelly Jewell

William Kelly Jewell, 55, was born in Napa, Calif. His years with Aramco and affiliated companies date back to 1935, when he joined the Standard Oil Company of California in San Francisco. He was awarded his 25-year service pin in November, 1960.

Jewell received his education at Taft Junior College and did additional work at the University of California at Berkeley and at San Francisco, Stanford University and Cornell.

He transferred to Aramco (then Casoc) in 1942 and worked in the Payroll department until moving to Employee Relations in 1944. He later became assistant supervisor of Personnel. In 1949, Jewell moved to New York as assistant to the manager, Personnel department. He was named supervisor, Wages and Salaries division, New York Office, in September, 1951, and in 1956 became assistant manager, Personnel department, New York.

He first came to Arabia in 1957, when he undertook a four-month relief assignment as coordinator, Wages and Salaries, Dhahran. Following this assignment, he was selected to attend the Advanced Management Training Course at the University of Pittsburgh. He transferred to Dhahran in November, 1959, as coordinator, Wages and Salaries division, General Office.

Surviving are his wife, Edyth, a married daughter, Katherine (Mrs. John H. Julian), William, 21, and Claire, 17.
