All students, whether boarding or day, quickly find their place in our diverse community. Salem’s student body is 25% international and includes students from China, Dominica, Germany, Jamaica, Moldova, Nigeria, Taiwan, and Turkey.
Boarding students live in four dormitories with House Counselors, a mix of older and younger women who live on each floor. All House Counselors are members of the Residential Life Staff under the direction of the Dean of Students. A Senior Prefect also lives on each hall and is available as a support to her hallmates and the House Counselor.
Student Life
Student life at Salem Academy is rich in friendships, fun, and personal growth. Students engage in a variety of activities and events, including the arts, athletics, leadership development, community service, travel, and more.
Salem’s 29 Student Clubs & Organizations provide ample opportunity for participation and leadership. Popular clubs include Model UN, Ecology Club, Student Government Association, Black Student Union, Robotics, Diversity Club, and Girl Up.
Athletics : The Salem Sabers participate in the Triad Athletic Conference of the North Carolina Independent Schools Athletic Association. Students train and play in our Athletic Complex & Fitness Center with a gymnasium, indoor pool, dance studio, fields, and tennis courts.
